Both companies will also explore other complementary areas of cooperation to enhance India’s digital ecosystem.

On Wednesday, Jio Platforms Limited announced a strategic partnership with SpaceX, bringing Starlink broadband services to India. The subsidiary of Reliance Industries claims that it will use the constellations of Elon Musk-owned low-east class satellites to provide high-speed broadband services to its clients in the country’s most remote and rural areas. To get approval from regulatory officials to sell Starlink in India under Spacex, Starlink Equipment and Customer Services Establishment and Activation will be available at the Reliance Jio Store.
Reliance Jio-Starlink Partnership
According to a press release, Starlink is an additional excess other than Jio Platform Limited’s existing high-speed broadband services, such as JioAirFiber and JioFiber. It is claimed to expand the availability of the Internet in challenging places. The move is assumed to suit the telecom provider’s plans to provide high-speed internet to small and medium-sized businesses, communities and businesses across India. Once the authority is given by the regulatory officers, customers will be able to buy Starlink equipment from Reliance Jio Stores. In addition, the telecom provider will be installed in Elon Musk-owned business and will activate customer service on its behalf.
SpaceX Chairman and Chief Operating Officer Gwyn Shotwell said after the announcement, “We are eager to work with Jio and get more people, organisations and businesses from the Government of India to provide access to high-speed internet services.” To further enhance India’s digital ecosystem, both companies will also explore other complementary areas of cooperation, taking advantage of their respective infrastructure, including the huge Starlink’s huge low-earth-class satellite constellation. It is estimated that it has around 7,000 active satellites that provide broadband services with low delay in some of the world’s most remote areas.
After the announcement of a uniform partnership between Spacex and Bharti Airtel, which will also sell Starlink devices in India, this is the second agreement signed by Elon Musk -owned company. It is estimated that Airtel will provide starlink services to communities, schools, health centers, commercial customers and others.
